Project-Based Learning Opportunities
Project-based learning allows teachers to make content, skills, and knowledge authentic, using real-world challenges to inspire deeper learning. In project-based experiences, students are actively involved in solving problems, and more likely to remember what they have learned. Epals
Epals is a free service that matches classrooms around the world to communicate and work together on projects. Global Nomads Group
Global Nomads Group aims to “foster dialogue among the world’s youth.” They connect classrooms around the world through projects such as discussion boards, live dialogues, and expert speakers. See the variety of project pathways here. iEARN IEARN (International Education and Resource Network) uses technology to foster collaboration on educational projects to “enhance learning and make a difference in the world.” Teachers can choose from over 150 projects in the Collaboration Centre. |
Teach UNICEF
I return often to the rich materials offered by Teach UNICEF, organized by theme and grade level. Their lessons on gender equity and poverty increase students' awareness of global issues and empowe them to take action. World Savvy
World Savvy “educates and engages youth to learn, work, and thrive as responsible global citizens.” Their World Savvy Classrooms initiative offers thematic interdisciplinary projects aligned with Common Core Standards. The theme for 2015-2016 is Population and Progress. World Wise Schools
World Wise Schools promotes global learning through Peace Corps volunteers’ experiences. The Classroom Correspondence program connects classes to current volunteers, while the World Wise Speakers program matches schools to local Peace Corps alumni willing to speak about their experiences. |
